The beer of Russian royalty: Empress Catherine the Great is the one responsible for the Russian court’s obsession with this strong style of stout. Warm-fermented with minimal hop character, this beer is an intense showcase of roasted malts that translates into notes of dark chocolate and coffee. To play up this aspect of the beer, we added ten pounds of coffee to give an even richer flavor and aroma.
