Scottish Ale

Heart of Lothian

Heart of Lothian is a traditional Scottish 90 Shilling Ale, brewed with Scottish and English malts, English hops, and English yeasts. The style dates back to the 19th century Scotland when the tax per barrel was determined by the alcohol content of the beer. Typically beers ranged in cost from 60-160 shillings (4%-10% ABV). Heart of Lothian is crafted to resemble a 90 chilling ale of Scotland in the 1920s.

Lothian is balanced with caramel and chocolate malt flavors, and earthy notes from Fuggle and East Kent Golding hops. It is medium bodied, dark brown in color, and finishes dry.
